Back in France!

We’re now back in France and we’re ready to get on the bikes again. First thing was to get a new bike for the boys, as the follow bike is not quite a solution anymore with Basile growing up. On LeBonCoin, we find a nice MTB tandem, largely upgraded from a Viper by Benjamin de la Cabane de Benjy. It’s super light and as soon as we try it with Basile, we’re super excited. A few rides at La Citadelle confirm that this thing will give us a lot of fun for years to come!

We were supposed to go camping but last minute change, we go see our friends Eve and Frank in Bousignies… Naviki says 38 km and at 8 on Saturday we’re ready to go!

…and we’re back, Olivine’s taller now and she doesn’t need the pedal shorteners. 5 minutes to remove them and we’re going again!

The ride starts by going through the Braderie de Lille, one of the biggest if not the biggest flea markets in the world. Once we get out of the city, we enjoy a nice ride through the country side. No wind, good temperature, and quiet country roads.

After a little error following the GPS we get to our friends Eve and Franck, they have a pool and a trampoline, kids love it!

So after a great lunch, a lot of running and jumping, it’s time to get back home. Franck and the kids come with us to the next village. Bad news, now there’s a pretty strong front wind! Corinne has a headache and feels like she’s not gonna make it. Olivine is tired too. At some point we swap the kids, now we can do it with the two tandems. Basile helps Corinne and we arrive slowly in Lille. The braderie is still going and we have a stop at Le Bus Magique where there are concerts on the boat, we see a couple of friends around.

All in all it was a great day, and about 83 km which ain’t that bad after a while without serious cycling. We’re really happy with the new setup, ready for new adventures!
